Architect and BIM Manager

Individuals in this role work with many different leading edge architectural firms to help them implement new technology on a variety of exciting projects. In this role they specify and implement software solutions to help architectural design customers address issues and achieve their business goals. A BIM Management Consultant functions as a trusted advisor to the customer by proposing software design solutions based on their strong industry knowledge, in-depth product knowledge and customer's business acumen. They also assist the client in implementing these solutions on actual building design projects.

What does a BIM Management Consultant do?

  • Assesses client current business process, recommends and implements solutions to meet client needs. Work closely with clients to document and standardize design processes.
  • Writes deliverable documents including project schedules, procedures guides, flow charts, and best practices guides, agendas, and follow up memos.
  • Conducts/attends daily project status meetings.
  • Initiates communication with team members and clients as necessary in order to ensure project success.
  • Executes solution implementation, including any task that might be necessary to complete project deliverables. Examples include software configuration, content creation, preparation of documentation, custom mentoring or training, etc.
  • Manages project scope, and works to execute change orders as necessary.
  • Produces project deliverables on-time and on-budget.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed solution assessments.

    Meets with clients either in-person or via virtual conferencing software to gain an understanding of current design projects and present workflows, determine areas of improvement, and extract deliverable requirements for projects that involve significant product customization, client-specific implementation activity, and/or out-of-the-box functionality.

  • Develop specification (scope of work) documents.

    Prepare scope of work documents that clearly describe project benefits, define deliverables, establish project time lines, and adequately provide for the management of financial and legal risks.

  • Execute/Manage solution implementation.

    Work to perform tasks (or work with a team charged with preforming tasks) necessary to produce project deliverables. Typically requires the creation of work product (such as 3D models, templates, sample drawings, etc.) using engineering software, development and delivery of custom training or mentoring services, and/or creation of project documentation such as best practice guides.

  • Monitor and manage client expectations.

    Present project proposals and confirm that client expectations are set regarding project scope, deliverables, timelines, and costs. Manage expectations throughout project implementation process including questions of scope. Ensure that client acceptance of deliverables is obtained within required time frame.

  • Ability to be perceived as a strategic adviser.

    Work together with clients as a business partner in a trusted advisor role. Manage client expectations and provide long term guidance to improve design and software efficiencies.

Job Specifications:

  • 4 years of working experience in Architectural industry.
  • BS in Architecture or relevant project design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in implementing BIM or 3D design solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in BIM management and execution.
  • Demonstrated experience in construction coordination and clash detection.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication, presentation, organization, planning and project management skills.
  • Initiative with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Process and Workflow analysis skills and direct experience.
  • Strong business acumen, high energy, self-motivated and able to work under pressure.
  • Travel throughout Advanced Solutions territory. (Average 50%)
The candidate should possess:
  • Desire to implement new technology with a variety of top architectural firms to improve the building design process
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Works independently and can manage multiple priorities
  • Registration in Architecture a plus
  • Construction Coordination a plus
  • Technical sales experience a plus
  • Comfortable presenting in front of large audiences
  • Ability to travel (up to 50%)
Software knowledge and capabilities:
  • Working knowledge of programs including, but not limited to: AutoCAD Architecture, Revit Architecture, Structural and MEP, Navisworks. Additional experience with Ecotect Analysis, IES Virtual environment or similar building analysis software is highly preferred. Competitive architectural design software product knowledge will also be considered.
